TFG's clients often have an innovative product, process, or service based on proprietary research and development. This innovation typically involves intellectual property that contributes to a strong competitive advantage in the marketplace and serves as the foundation for a high rate of growth.

To qualify, clients must be dealing with one or more of the following technology areas:

  • Hardware - computers, mobile devices, biotechnology, telecom, energy, green/clean tech

  • Software - applications, embedded software, SaaS, Internet sites/services, or cloud-based solutions

  • Technology-driven innovation where technology is not the product - process enhancement

  • Novel combinations of existing technology

Our clients create technology, have scalable business models, and are located in Northern California.

Technology -TFG clients are the creators of new technology or use novel combinations of existing technologies. A technological innovation must be the core of the company. This innovation typically involves intellectual property that contributes to a strong competitive advantage in the marketplace and serves and the foundation for a high rate of growth.

Intellectual Property - TFG clients possess proprietary and defensible technology that may be legally protected.  

Growth Potential - TFG clients are evaluated on their potential for growth both in terms of job creation potential and funding needs.

Location - Clients must be based in one of the 36 counties of the NorCal SBDC Network. These counties include the following: Del Norte, Siskiyou, Modoc, Humboldt, Trinity, Shasta, Lassen, Mendocino, Glenn, Tehama, Butte, Plumas, Sierra, Lake, Colusa, Sutter, Yuba, Nevada, Placer, El Dorado, Sonoma, Napa, Yolo, Marin, Solano, Sacramento, Contra Costa, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Alameda, San Joaquin, Calaveras, Amador, Alpine, San Francisco (Note: Companies may be incorporated in another state - like Delaware - but must be registered in CA in one of the 36 counties noted here. International companies - see note below.)

Note - International companies must be in the process of incorporating in the U.S. (e.g. Delaware C-Corporation) AND must be registered in California AND have your primary place of business located in one of the 36 counties listed above. If your company is already registered and established in the U.S., your primary place of business must be located in one of the 36 counties listed above.
